Welcome to the Wealdown Walks website. The intention is to provide assistance for prospective walks leaders who may have a limited knowledge of map reading. There are walks here that vary from 4 to 12 miles in length and that cover an amazing diversity of countryside.

Click on the Walks button above to find a list of walks available. Each includes a map of the route, notes to assist you in finding your way, either as a text only version or with some photos to assist in route identification. Each individual walk can be printed out to carry with you. I would suggest you carry them in a plastic file sleeve to prevent possible rain damage. It would also be a sensible precaution to carry a full OS map of the area just in case there should be a change in the direction of a path, due to diversion or temporary closure. In an ideal world all paths should be adequately marked, either by waymarkers or signposts, unfortunately this will not be the case in some instances! However, I hope that the directions are clear enough to overcome problems of this sort, any indicators that are present will only serve to emphasise that you are on the right route.

Higher resolution copies of all documents, plus a slideshow giving a virtual walk-through of each route is available on a DVD at a cost of £5, to obtain one send a request via the Get in Touch button above.

Whilst every effort will be made to point out any potential hazards that may occur along the route, I cannot be held responsible for the failure of landowners to properly maintain stiles, bridges etc. on their land. Remember that you are walking over ground that is always going to be hazardous to some degree, with potholes, rabbit holes, tree roots etc. ready to trip the unwary. Walkers should exercise caution and common sense at all times. Above all else do endeavour to follow the Country Code. Do not embark on any walk if you are at all unsure of your ability to complete it.
